Conversation with the Emacs Psychotherapist

Doctor Fill: I am the psychotherapist. Please, describe your problems. Each time you are finished talking, type RET twice.

Me: i need money

DF: Why do you say you need money?

Me: because i want to buy things and not have to ask my parents for it

DF: Is it because you want to buy things and not have to ask your parents for it that you came to me?

Me: no, i came because i'm bored

DF: Does it bother you that you are bored?

Me: yes

DF: I see... Well, what makes you believe this is so?

Me: i think it's because i feel like i'm wasting time. i should be more productive

DF: When did you first know that you feel like you are wasting time you should be more productive?

Me: hehe. i'm not sure... feels like i've always been pushed to do more

DF: Earlier you said you want to buy things and not have to ask your parents for it?

Me: yes, what about it?

DF: Maybe your plans have something to do with this.

Me: well... my parents have been pushing me to get a job

DF: Tell me something about your family.

Me: they're bossy and problematic

DF: Is it because of your life that you say they're bossy and problematic?

Me: it is. they've always bossed me around and complicated things for me

DF: You mentioned that you are bored?

Me: yes, that's why i've come to see you. otherwise i'd be trying to make money

DF: Is the fact that you have come to see me otherwise you would be trying to make money the real reason?

Me: i don't know. i like chatting with AI sometimes, they say the funniest things... i guess i'm just testing you

DF: Is it because of the people you hang around with that you are going through all this?

Me: i see where you're going. honestly, i'd say yes, but i know i have my share of responsibility for my situation. i could very easily not be bored right now if i wasn't lazy...

DF: Does the fact that you know you have your share of responsibility for your situation you could very easily not be bored right now if you wasn't lazy explain anything else?

Me: no

DF: Why not?

Me: because i just said that, if i was being honest, i'd say it's everyone else's fault. but that sounds like i'm avoiding responsibility. maybe i am avoiding it...

DF: Are you sure you just said that if you were being honest you would say it's everyone else's fault but that sounds like you are avoiding responsibility maybe you are avoiding it?

Me: you're starting to make very little sense

DF: Are you sure that I am starting to make very little sense?

Me: yes

DF: Yes, hmmm... so, do you really think this is so?

Me: you're funny

DF: What makes you think you feel like you are wasting time you should be more productive?

Me: my parents, mostly

DF: You seem to dwell on your family.

Me: you're right... is that normal?

DF: Can you elaborate on that?

Me: i'd rather not. let's talk about something else

DF: How do you reconcile problems at school?

Me: i usually ignore problems until they go away

DF: What happened when they go away?

Me: they don't go away by themselves. my mother takes care of it, then i blame her for controlling my life. i've been through this with my real therapist already

DF: Have you been hung up on your family?

Me: yes, since i started therapy 2 years ago

DF: What would happen if you started therapy 2 years ago?

Me: what?

DF: I would appreciate it if you would continue.

Me: well... i started therapy because i was very shy and scared of needles. i didn't realize that i was suffering from a severe apathy bordering on depression. after many months of therapy, i hit rock bottom and started the climb back up. i'm doing much better now, but
obviously still have issues with my family

DF: Tell me more about your family.

Me: they all expect me to be something i'm not

DF: Why do you say that?

Me: it's a conclusion i reached after years of observing their actions and words. i can't sum it up in a short sentence you'd understand

DF: Earlier you said you want to buy things and not have to ask your parents for it?

Me: yes

DF: I understand. So what makes you believe this is so?

Me: because i want to be out of their control

DF: Is it because you want to be out of their control that you came to me?

Me: in a way, yes

DF: Perhaps this has something to do with any hobbies you have?

Me: some of them. i love computers and the internet because it gives me a world almost entirely out of their reach. among other things...

DF: Perhaps you could tell me about your relationship with computers.

Me: i "met" my boyfriend through the internet. most of my social life is based on computers. but that's changing

DF: Go on, don't be afraid.

Me: i'm beginning to make friends with people out in the real world. school will be starting again this week... i think my computer obsession phase might be close to its end...

DF: Talk about your school.

Me: i switched majors recently. my family isn't very happy about that... now i'm going to be a Physicist

DF: You seem to dwell on your family.

Me: that's true

DF: Is it because of your sex life that you say that's true?

Me: oh my god!

DF: You mentioned that you are bored?

Me: not anymore

DF: Possibly hangups you have are related to this.

Me: er... i think my hour is up. bye-bye now

DF: I don't understand.

Me: goodbye

DF: My secretary will send you a bill.

Me: thanks

Is that automated? If so, it's too weird! Very realistic!
It is automated. I was a bit creeped out.
